Frequently Asked Questions
How do I register if I would like to participate in multiple disciplines?
You may enter all disciplines for one individual within the same registration. There is no need to create multiple registrations for the same individual.
Do I need a PayPal account in order to register? No. You may pay festival registration fees through PayPal without being required to sign up for a PayPal account. You will also be given the option of paying with your credit card or VISA debit.
What do I do if I have issues registering using my mobile device? Unfortunately, we have noticed that there may be issues using our registration system when on a mobile device. We suggest that if you encounter this problem, try again using a desktop computer.
Why am I receiving runtime and server errors? Several festivals use the same server for their registrations. This means that the server is occasionally under heavy load, and has trouble handling it. It is in the process of being optimized for heavier load, but all that you need to do is wait for it to sort out. Come back later, after an hour or so, and you may find you are successful.
What do I do if the music I select from the library doesn’t display in the field? This is a known issue that only seems to affect users of Firefox. Try your registration in a different browser (Such as Chrome, Opera, etc.) and it should work.
I entered the wrong song/piece or the wrong class on my entry form – how can I change it? In your online registration account, you can change the class and/or repertoire until the entry deadline – simply select ‘modify class’ beside the class you which to alter and make the required changes.
I have pressed the SUBMIT button and I cannot get to the Payment section. What am I doing wrong? Check if you have entered a time for your selection. The process of registration will not proceed until the time is entered.
Can I get a refund if I can’t perform (due to injury, illness, being out of town, having an exam, etc)? There are no refunds once an entry has been received.
What do I do if I can’t log in to the registration site? Have you tried re-entering your username and password? They need to both be entered each time, whether they appear to show up in the field or not. This is a default setting in your browser. You have the option to change it, but this is how to solve the problem without changing the setting.
I’ve entered my correct class number, but it tells me ‘Wrong Class Type for this participant’. What do I do? Each class can only be entered by the one participant type. For instance, if you are trying to register for a duet, you must register as another participant using class type ‘Duet, Trio, or Quartet’. There is some crossover between ‘Duet, Trio, or Quartet’ and ‘Small Ensemble’. All ensemble classes which could include 3 – 6 members are classified as ‘Small Ensemble’. If you’re still having trouble, please contact us for assistance.
Where can I get a festival program? Each registered family will receive one hard copy program, along with a digital copy of the program. Programs will also be for sale at festival locations for $5.
How can I request to be scheduled only on specific days? Unfortunately, the Twin Rivers Music Festival doesn’t take special requests in regard to scheduling. There are simply too many people involved to make these feasible.
I only have a photocopy of my piece. Can I play from it and/or hand it in to the adjudicator? The use of photocopies is strictly forbidden. Please see the SMFA syllabus, pp. 7-8 for detailed copyright information.
Do I need to perform my piece from memory? Memorization is not required, although it is encouraged. The effect of this upon your mark is at the discretion of the adjudicator. If you do not perform from memory, note that you will need an original copy in addition to the ones required for the adjudicator as well as your accompanist (if you have one).
Memorization is required at the provincial and national levels of festival.
What if I can’t perform at the time my class is scheduled? Changing the ordering of contestants with a class upon a reasonable request is permitted – so if you simply need to perform earlier or later within your class time, let the secretary (for your class) know. However, other schedule changes are not permitted as changing the order of classes in a session affects other contestants performing within the session.
